This course provides an avenue to deal with issues
surrounding death and dying. The course uses a variety of educational
techniques including small group problem-based learning, case-based teaching
and distance learning. The modules can be adapted to teaching styles based on
regional concerns and cultural factors. As an accredited national continuing

The three courses presently offered are: Management of Mild
to Moderate Asthma; Insights into Hypertension; and Issues in Oral
Contraception. Each course involves 2-3 cases. You are required to answer
specific questions arising from these cases. It takes about 2-3 weeks to
complete a course. In total it takes about 3 hours over 2-3 weeks. The courses
are facilitated by a family physician; there is also a subject matter expert
available for specialist advice when needed. |

emphasis is to help rural MDs maintain medical competence. Courses offer credit
