Mental Health Project is a national level project
working to provide community based mental health care in the country. The
project is working at various levels from developing needed human resources
and raising the awareness in the community to helping HMG/ Nepal to formulate
Mental Health related policy and plan.
Because childhood is the formative period of
the life and because almost half of the population of the country is children,
many activities are focused on children. The project is working to uplift
the mental health status for positive psychological and social development
of children.
The project is under the auspices of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) functioning closely in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other relevant institutions. It has been sponsored by Redd Barna, the United Mission to Nepal (UMN), Norwegian Research Council (NORCOM) and others.
